Addition / Renovation on Garden Road Ridge, Piha
Perched on Garden Rd ridge, this once-tired 80’s weatherboard bach is being reworked to capture light, warmth, and the coastal views it had long been missing. The new southern addition extends the living volume, lined with warm timber battens overhead, while an east-facing dormer draws in the morning sun and frames the pohutukawa canopy beyond. Though compact in footprint, carefully crafted built-in furniture create a sense of generosity — a window seat for two doubles as dining seating, and a cosy nook beneath the stairs, surrounded by bookshelves, forms another quiet zone. With solar panels, UPVC joinery, and cork flooring, this small bach rebuild embraces sustainable design with an easy Piha spirit.
