We design homes that feel generous and joyful, work beautifully, and endure harsh environments.

CAROLYN GUNDY  Bachelor of Architecture ANZIA, Registered Architect.

I’m the founder of C-Architecture and I’m a registered Architect with 30 years of experience specialising in residential design, particularly in coastal locations. My home at Piha Beach allows me to both live and work in an ever-changing, inspiring atmosphere.  More recently I have also been operating my architectural studio in Whangamata Beach.  I work between both of these amazing communities. And I have two wonderful teenage daughters that keep me busy.

As well as a love for all things architecture, I find joy in family and nature. Surfing is my passion and is a big part of my family life. I also love snowboarding, mountain biking and running in the bush.  This physical connection with nature fuels my creativity and brings a unique perspective and insight to my architectural projects.

My approach to architecture is grounded in a commitment to creating simple, highly functional, beautiful spaces that feel as good as they look through enhancing awareness and relationships with the landscape. I prioritise passive, sustainable and contextually sensitive design principles.
